Yield to Horses: Helping Take Action for the Local Equestrian Community
North Scottsdale is a unique area in which rural life and outdoor recreation meet the edge of dense suburbia. With this comes increased traffic safety concerns for those riding horses in the neighborhoods and on the trails.
In the wake of a tragic accident in the local equestrian community involving a careless driver, “Yield to Horses” advocates for increased awareness and cooperation between motorists, horseback-riders, and other outdoor enthusiasts. More info at https://www.yieldtohorses.com/
Here is the original design. Initially, we weren’t entirely sure how it would be implemented - what it would physically be printed on. The main intention was a strong desire to advocate for the equestrian community, and that’s what guided the project to manifest into what it eventually became.
The Challenge: As unpredictable fight-or-flight animals, horses require special consideration when encountered on the road - for the safety of all involved. The goal of this project is to spread awareness of equestrian use of roads and trails in the Scottsdale area, and beyond to all places where horses, motor vehicles, and other users intermingle.
Product Creation
The first draft was simplified to the most important elements for better textual and visual legibility, with the composition purposed to fit more appealingly on a t-shirt. The design worked so well that it was used for a bumper sticker, too.
