The Chicken Ranch: Eggceptional Brand Identity for a Hyper-local Producer
Eggceptional Brand Identity for a Family Farm Producer
The Chicken Ranch is a hyper-local source for farm fresh eggs from happy chickens raised on a small family farm. Their products come from a healthy, well-loved flock of various breeds of chickens that lay a rainbow variety of different colored eggs. The Chicken Ranch is all about the chickens - that’s why they’re in the name! Not only can you feel good knowing products from The Chicken Ranch are ethically sourced from animals that are loved and cared for like family, but you can also enjoy the rich flavor and beautiful array of colors that are brought to you by happy hens.
The Challenge: Level up in appearance from small hobby farm to high-quality local vendor, to improve perception at community markets.
Logo
The logo needed to convey the boutique, artisanal feel of the operation, without taking itself too seriously.
Floral decor reminiscent of desert flora like mesquite and brittlebush connect the logo to The Chicken Ranch’s community roots in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
The hand-drawn appearance of the type conveys the homey, handmade sentiment of hobby farm eggs.
At the centerpiece is a playful, happy chicken - the hallmark of The Chicken Ranch brand.
Color + Type
The warm yellows and blues recall both Arizona desert landscapes and jewel-toned, rich-yolked farm fresh eggs. The pink accents add a sense of freshness and connect the brand to its floral decor.
Typography was chosen for its readability and its friendly, approachable farmhouse look.
Photography shows chickens doing what they do best, in their free-range desert environment.
Values
Voice
The Chicken Ranch now has a solid direction to take their marketing as business grows, and a brand identity with an authentic voice that makes room for them in the crowded (farmer’s) market of farm-fresh egg producers.
